Sentara Hospitals is seeking an experienced ICU nurse for the night shift in Norfolk, VA. The role involves working within Sentara’s eICU telemedicine program to support bedside teams across multiple hospitals.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Electronic Intensive Care Unit (eICU) is seeking an experienced full-time ICU Nurse for Night Shift 7p -7a to join the team at our Norfolk location.

This position is currently located at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital but will be moving in late June to Sentara Independence.

Our Electronic Intensive Care Unit (eICU) is a form of telemedicine that uses state of the art technology to provide an additional layer of critical care service. The goal of the E-ICU (tele-ICU) is to reduce mortality, length of stay and prevent complications by providing an additional layer of monitoring for the patients. This is accomplished by utilizing advanced telecommunications technology. The Sentara eICU staff collaborates with the bedside ICU team to proactively intervene to carry out the Sentara Commitments to Always Work Together as a Team to Provide Our Patients Quality Healthcare and Always Keep You Safe.

The Electronic Intensive Care Unit (eICU) supports 7 of our hospital locations including Sentara Abermale medical Center, Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, Sentara Leigh Hospital, Sentara Careplex Hospital, Sentara Obici Hospital, Sentara Williamsburg Hospital, and Sentara RMH Medical Center.

e-ICU RN provides remote nursing care acting as an advocate, guide, and resource for the bedside ICU RN.

Collaborates with the eMD to provide telemedicine care to a diverse population of critically ill adults across multiple ICUs at various Sentara hospitals.

The eMDs and eRNs follow patients in the Monitored Census utilizing Epic Patient Monitoring (EPM). Video conferencing via the eICU cameras allows direct communication with the patients, bedside team, other members of the healthcare team and patients' families at the patient's bedside.

The eRNs maintain daily logs with their monitoring assignments and APACHE assignments.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Education

• Associate's Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Virginia RN License Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.
• CCRN preferred
• All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.

Experience

Three-plus years of recent ICU bedside preferred

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits.

The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
