Job Responsibilities along with a percentage of time performing duties:

1. 40% - Clinical functions/rounding
2. 35% - Education/orientation
3. 25% - Administrative tasks

Job Functions:

1. Develops and coordinates new employee orientation: Collaborates with Nursing Education, develops documentation mechanisms, sets individualized time frames, and acts as a resource for training and orientation, utilizing adult learning theories. Participates in employee assessment and mentors new staff.
2. Provides ongoing development and education: Collaborates on mandatory competencies, develops educational programs, and facilitates attainment of clinical skills. Participates in policy implementation and maintains records.
3. Performs evaluations and placements: Completes probationary evaluations, manages employee placement post-orientation, and conducts weekly clinical conferences. Provides remedial education as needed.
4. Participates in policy and project activities: Ensures compliance with hospital policies, participates in research, committees, and acts as a resource for practice issues.
5. Recognizes performance and maintains professional competence: Sets developmental goals, attends educational programs, and pursues certifications.
6. Develops and evaluates educational programs: Implements internship and special programs, evaluates effectiveness, and reports on progress.
7. Maintains records: Ensures documentation accuracy and compliance with policies.
8. Provides consultation and education: For medical staff and allied professionals, and coordinates clinical assignments.
9. Knowledge of clinical EMR and software: Utilizes EMR, education software, and Microsoft Office tools effectively.
10. Meets Educator Role Delineation: For intra-op roles.
11. Other tasks as needed: Meets department needs.

Reporting Structure: Educator reports directly to the Unit Director/Manager, with a dotted line to the Nursing Manager. The Nursing Education Manager assigns coverage and supports education initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required:

• BSN
• Valid NJ RN License
• Minimum 5 years OR RN experience
• BLS and CNOR certifications

Preferred:

• Master's in Nursing
• OR educator experience
• EPIC documentation experience
