The Norfolk General Hospital's Emergency Department is a 53-bed unit equipped to handle various medical emergencies, with approximately 10% trauma-related cases. It is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, the region’s first Magnet Hospital, and a 525-bed medical center serving as a primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. The hospital also features four intensive care units and a dedicated 112-bed Heart Hospital.

A 525-bed tertiary care facility, home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, serving as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. The hospital specializes in heart and vascular, neurosciences, neurosurgery, urology, oncology, spine care, advanced imaging, behavioral health, maternity, and women’s health, including a state-of-the-art neonatal ICU.
