Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is seeking a Day Surgery RN to deliver direct and indirect patient care in the DSU and PHA environment. You will coordinate with physicians, Nurse Manager and staff, monitor patient status, and respond rapidly to changes in condition or treatment outcomes.

The role requires an active Nevada RN license with ACLS & BLS certification, with full-time hours and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Active Nevada RN license.
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform head-to-toe assessments and reassessments as per policy for all patients.
  • Assess and manage patient pain with appropriate techniques and educate families.
  • Establish and adjust the plan of care per physician orders and condition.
  • Treat patients and families with respect; address psychosocial and cultural needs; liaise with care team.
  • Collaborate with patient/family in plan of care and discharge planning.

This Day Surgery RN opportunity is full time, offers full benefits and a convenient schedule. We are looking for a dynamic individual to provide direct and indirect patient care in the DSU and PHA (preoperative holding area) environment. Communicates with physicians/Nurse Manager and director/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
  • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Ability to establish plan of care as indicated by physician orders and condition
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care & discharge plan.
