Job summary

Mercy Fort Smith is seeking RNs to staff the Dedicated Orientation Unit, an 18-bed unit focused on teaching new Mercy caregivers. The role includes caring for Medical Telemetry patients at a 6:1 patient-to-nurse ratio and acting as a preceptor to two newly hired Mercy caregivers.

There is a separate Dedicated Education Unit for graduates, with a day shift and a 4:1 patient-to-nurse ratio, where nurses precept senior nursing students and support oversight.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate from a school of nursing (AD, Diploma, or BSN).
• Licensure: Active RN license in hiring state or compact licensure.
• Certifications: American Heart Association Healthcare Provider, ACLS and BLS (or within 90 days).

Responsibilities

• Care for Medical Telemetry patients with a 6:1 patient to nurse ratio on the Orientation Unit.
• Act as a preceptor to two newly hired Mercy caregivers.

We are looking to build a team of highly engaged nurses who have a passion for education, patient care, and best practices. This unit will care for Medical Telemetry patients with a 4:1 patient to nurse ratio (day shift only). Each nurse will act as a preceptor to two senior level nursing students who will take total care of the 4 patients. A clinical rotation preceptor will also be available for support/oversight of the students. Qualifications:

• Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

• Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

• Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period. Must have ACLS and BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.
