Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). You will coordinate perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular and cardiothoracic patients, ensuring adherence to standards and individualized care plans.

The RN identifies patient needs, develops care plans, and evaluates perioperative outcomes, following the Florida Nurse Practice Act and departmental guidelines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program; BSN required within specified timeframe for new hires after 2012.
• Minimum six months OR experience in Operating Room or OR post-graduate course/internship.
• Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Prescribe, delegate and coordinate nursing care in Cardiovascular Operating Room perioperative environment.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans and evaluate outcomes of perioperative care.
• Ensure care aligns with Florida Nurse Practice Act, SMH policies and departmental standards.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) assumes responsibility for prescribing, delegating and coordinating nursing care to patients in the cardiovascular and cardiothoracic perioperative environment, including interventions that assist the patient in a conscious or unconscious state. The RN identifies physiologic, psychological, and sociologic needs of the patient, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, coordinates interventions and evaluates outcomes of the patient’s perioperative experience. The RN is legally accountable and responsible for patient care, whether accomplished personally or by another perioperative team member. The RN will be competent to provide patient care following standards set forth in the Florida Nurse Practice Act, SMH, and the department.

Required Qualifications

• Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045).
• Require one of the following: minimum of six (6) months previous Operating Room (OR) experience, or graduation from an OR post graduate course or approved Operating Room nurse internship program.
• Require basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prefer certification in nursing specialty area.
• Prefer one (1) year of cardiac OR experience.

Preferred Education

BSN: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Required License and Certs

• ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
• FL RN: FL Registered Nurse License

Preferred License and Certs

• CNOR: Certified Nurse O.R.
