Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Step Down Unit (7 West) at the MetroHealth Main Campus. The role requires EKG interpretation, central line care, and proficiency with airway support including BiPAP and high-flow oxygen.

You will collaborate with PCNAs, interns, and providers in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Qualified candidates hold Ohio RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS; PRN roles require 1 year RN experience and all certifications on hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire or obtained earlier.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience.
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care on the Critical Care Step Down Unit (7 West).
• Interpret EKGs and monitor telemetry.
• Perform central line care and manage airway/hemodynamics (BiPAP, high flow oxygen, Trach/Vents).
• Assist with bedside procedures (endoscopies, bronchoscopies).
• Collaborate with PCNAs, providers and other team members; demonstrate critical thinking and time management.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7a-7p/7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Congestive Heart Failure
• COPD
• DKA
• Sepsis

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• EKG interpretation
• Central Line care
• Rescue Bi-pap, High Flow Oxygen, Trach/Vents,
• Assist with bedside procedures (endoscopies, bronchoscopies)
• Critical thinking, delegating, time management

Personnel RN will work with:

• Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT, OT

Number of beds on unit:

• 14 beds

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current ACLS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire
