Job summary

MetroHealth's Critical Care Step Down Unit (7 West) at the Main Campus is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide high-acuity care in a 14-bed unit. Shifts are 7a-7p and 7p-7a with rotating weekends and holidays; bi-weekly hours total 72.

Responsibilities include EKG interpretation, central line care, BiPAP/High Flow Oxygen, and assisting with bedside procedures. Ohio RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, and 1 year of RN experience for PRN apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider
• Current ACLS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a Critical Care Step Down Unit.
• Perform EKG interpretation and monitor cardiac status.
• Care for patients requiring central lines, BiPAP/High Flow Oxygen, and ventilator support.
• Assist with bedside procedures (endoscopies, bronchoscopies) as needed.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, delegation, and effective time management.

Primary Patient Population:

• Congestive Heart Failure
• COPD
• DKA
• Sepsis

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• EKG interpretation
• Central Line care
• Rescue Bi-pap, High Flow Oxygen, Trach/Vents,
• Assist with bedside procedures (endoscopies, bronchoscopies)
• Critical thinking, delegating, time management

Personnel RN will work with:

• Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT, OT

Number of beds on unit:

• 14 beds

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio

• Current ACLS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire
