Job summary

Valley Health is seeking a registered nurse for the MEDICAL/SURGICAL department in Virginia. The role requires RN licensure, and whether BSN is preferred and 1872 hours of RN experience. A BLS certification is mandatory, with AHA training prior to orientation. Reliable hospital communication is essential.

Responsibilities include applying the nursing process, patient teaching, safety initiatives, and collaboration with the health team. Location includes VA/ WV with full-time shift patterns.

Qualifications

• RN Diploma, ASN or ADN required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum RN experience hours: 1872 full-time/part-time hours (936 if BSN).
• RN license required; eligible to practice in Virginia or West Virginia with NLC or single-state license.
• BLS Certification (AHA Healthcare Provider) required; new hires must have AHA certification prior to orientation.
• Relevant specialty certification preferred.
• Must have reliable means of phone communication with hospital.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management.
• Maintain quality communication, teamwork and professionalism.
• Direct, coordinate and implement patient teaching, safety initiatives and activities of other health team personnel.
• Care for the population assigned.
• Complete yearly mandatory competencies and unit-specific competencies; submit Portfolio annually by March 1.
• Solicit patient/family satisfaction and participate in peer review; develop educational bulletin boards for staff/patients.
