Job Description

The Clinical Practice Specialist embodies the mission, vision, and values of NM, adhering to our Code of Ethics and Compliance Program, and complies with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

This role leads efforts to ensure quality clinical practice and professional development at the front line.

Responsibilities
  1. Quality: Develops educational opportunities based on needs assessments, departmental and system goals, and new clinical programs. Supports staff in achieving specialty certification, reviews unit dashboards, monitors quality reports, and leads clinical process improvements.
  2. Culture of Safety: Implements safety education activities, reviews policies, participates in staff evaluations related to clinical competence, and mentors staff to address knowledge gaps.
  3. Evidence-based Practice/Research: Identifies and mentors EBP projects, participates in research, and assists in translating research into clinical practice guidelines.
  4. Shared Leadership: Attends various unit and hospital leadership meetings and participates in committees and projects.
  5. Fiscal Stewardship: Evaluates new products, recommends improvements, and manages resources efficiently.
  6. Annual Competency/Orientation/Retention: Leads orientation content review, participates in new employee onboarding, monitors goal progress, and develops educational plans.
  7. Education: Provides informal and formal education, incorporates organizational values into content, and maintains visibility across shifts.
  8. Leadership: Advocates for patients and staff, develops policies, collaborates on quality initiatives, and serves as a nursing consultant for practice advancement.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Master's in Nursing or to be obtained within 4 years
  • Illinois RN license
  • Related clinical certification (or to be obtained)
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
