Job summary

Freeman Regional Health Services seeks a dedicated RN to provide professional nursing care to patients and families in our clinic. The role includes medication administration, patient assessments, and collaboration with physicians and the healthcare team.

This PRN Day shift position supports patient flow, prepares exam rooms, documents in charts, educates patients, and contributes to a high standard of care. Active RN license required; 1–3 years hospital or clinical experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • RN license active in the state of practice is required upon hire.
  • 1–3 years experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general nursing care to patients.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic.
  • Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.
  • Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.
  • Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination.
  • Screens patients for information including health history, vitals, and nursing assessment.
  • Documents obtained information in patient chart.
  • Educates patients and families about diagnostic processes, medications, nutrition, and health maintenance.
  • Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and cleanliness.
  • Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens as needed.
  • Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing.

Location: Freeman, SD Worker Type: PRN Work Shift: As Needed (United States of America) Freeman Regional Health Service is looking for individuals to join our growing, team-oriented organization.

Position Highlights

PRN Work Shifts Available: Day Shift (8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.)

A Brief Overview

Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and families. Communicates with physicians as well as other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care.

What you will do
  • Performs general nursing care to patients.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic.
  • Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.
  • Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.
  • Oversees appointment scheduling and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.
  • Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination.
  • Screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining the health history, taking vitals, and conducting a nursing assessment.
  • Documents obtained information in patient chart.
  • Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests.
  • Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician.
  • Educates patients and families about diagnostic process, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
  • Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials.
  • Ensures cleanliness.
  • Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
  • Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed.
  • Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing - An active license in the state of practice is required upon hire 1-3 years experience working in a clinical or hospital environment, preferred.
