Job summary

AdventHealth in Shawnee Mission, KS is seeking a registered nurse to assess patients, develop care plans, and perform nursing interventions within a collaborative team. The role emphasizes holistic care across physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual dimensions.

You will educate patients and families, support self-management, and participate in care coordination and quality initiatives. RN licensure and BLS/CPR certification are required; an associate degree is required with a BSN

Qualifications

• Associate's degree of Nursing is required.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license is required; BLS/CPR certification required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1+ year medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Develop and implement patient care plans with the interdisciplinary team.
• Perform nursing interventions including IVs, wound care, meds, catheterization, and specimen collection.
• Educate patients and families and promote engagement in care.
• Coordinate care transitions and participate in process improvement.

Job Description

Assesses patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data. Develops and implements patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, observing outcomes in accordance with nursing standards. Demonstrates competency in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection. Advocates for and protects the health, safety, and rights of each patient. Provides patient and family education based on assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching. Encourages patient engagement in healthcare through motivational interviewing, self-management protocols, and teach-back methodology. Delivers relationship-based care, engaging patients in all aspects of care with respect for cultural differences and diversity. Delegates tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy. Other duties as assigned. Coordinates and implements group visits for identified high-risk patient populations. Aids in the care transition of high-risk patients, including medication reconciliation and coordination of services. Contributes to continuous process improvement by actively participating in patient experience and satisfaction initiatives.
