Job summary

AdventHealth in Shawnee Mission, KS seeks a Registered Nurse to assess and plan patient care across body, mind, and spirit, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

You will provide skilled nursing interventions, educate patients and families, and support transitions of care. This full-time day shift offers comprehensive benefits from day one.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in nursing is required.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• 1+ medical office experience preferred.
• Electronic Health Record experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs and develop care plans.
• Implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Administer medications, IVs, wound care, and other therapies per nursing standards.
• Educate patients and families and evaluate teaching effectiveness.
• Coordinate high-risk patient group visits and care transitions.
• Document accurately in the electronic health record.

Job Description:

Assesses patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data. Develops and implements patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, observing outcomes in accordance with nursing standards. Demonstrates competency in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection. Advocates for and protects the health, safety, and rights of each patient. Provides patient and family education based on assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching. Encourages patient engagement in healthcare through motivational interviewing, self-management protocols, and teach-back methodology. Delivers relationship-based care, engaging patients in all aspects of care with respect for cultural differences and diversity. Delegates tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy. Other duties as assigned. Coordinates and implements group visits for identified high-risk patient populations. Aids in the care transition of high-risk patients, including medication reconciliation and coordination of services. Contributes to continuous process improvement by actively participating in patient experience and satisfaction initiatives.
