Job Overview:
This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. It collaborates collegially with physicians and other healthcare team members to meet patient needs. The role may delegate certain care aspects to supervised team members within the scope of nursing practice.
Job Requirements:
- Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
- New hires must obtain a BSN within 5 years of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on the unit
- Registered Nurse licensure
- Knowledge of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to address complex healthcare needs
- Up to 1 year of clinical nursing experience
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates organizational responsibilities, identifies areas for self-improvement, and provides leadership as needed. Supports organizational activities and participates in committees and staff meetings. Builds collegial relationships with team members and physicians. Identifies opportunities for process improvement autonomously.
- Evaluates and documents patient care plans based on outcomes, including patient/family responses and teaching. Collaborates with the healthcare team to revise care plans as needed. Supervises delegated care activities.
- Implements care plans, ensuring a safe, respectful, and ethical environment. Acts as a patient advocate, delivering non-judgmental, culturally sensitive care. Prioritizes workload, recognizes emergencies, and initiates appropriate responses.
- Performs initial and ongoing patient assessments, documents findings, and communicates with healthcare providers. Includes health counseling and teaching in assessments.
- Performs technical skills according to policy, safely administers medications and treatments, and monitors effects. Uses equipment appropriately.
- Plans and updates care based on assessments, standards, and patient input. Sets short and long-term goals with patients and families, including discharge planning. Communicates care plans effectively.
