Job summary

The Citadel of Kankakee is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team. The RN assumes responsibility for a group of residents or a shift, delivering care through assessment, implementation and evaluation of the plan of care.

Responsibilities include administering medications, charting, supervising nursing assistants, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring safety and compliance with standards. Current CPR certification and an active RN license are required; prior long-term care experience

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification required.
• Nursing Degree or diploma from an accredited College or University.
• Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Registered Nurse.
• 1 year of experience preferred.
• Long-Term care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides licensed care to residents as ordered by physician and in accordance with standards.
• Provides and receives nursing reports at shift changes.
• Maintains clean and sanitary environments in work areas and treatment areas.
• Directs and supervises day-to-day certified nursing assistant services.
• Takes and records vital signs and administers medications and IV therapy as ordered.
• Transcribes physician orders to charts and MAR.
• Charts nurses notes reflecting care and resident responses.
• Counts controlled drugs with the nurse and notes discrepancies.
• Addresses safety risks and maintains a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Admits, transfers and discharges residents as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.
