JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Director of Nurses in the Care Center, the Registered Nurse will assist the DON and ADON with planning, coordinating and managing the RN clinical services for residents, and implement care as necessary and in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Position communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

  1. Administers prescribed medication; operates medical equipment and monitors patient status; records patient information in medical records; assists physician with examinations and administers treatments.
  2. Assists in emergencies, to include assessing the resident, notification of physician and family members, documentation, etc.
  3. Assists with staff orientation.
  4. Answers the telephone and call lights when necessary.
  5. Reports any equipment malfunction, or supply shortage.
  6. Assists with scheduling when needed to cover openings, as needed.
  7. Assists with continuing education and in-services for staff.
  8. Assures that residents receive proper care in a timely manner.
  9. Ensures that residents are in the dining room in a timely manner, monitors meals, and sees that residents who require assistance with meals receive it.
  10. Leaves a written report for the Director of Nursing – Care Center on any problems with residents, staff, or resident’s families. Please note your interaction in these circumstances.
  11. Maintains competency as Registered Nurse. Assists as needed on the floor.
  12. Keeps the LPN/CNA staff up to date on new initiatives.
  13. Monitors LPN staff and their team to assure all resident care is performed appropriately and timely.
  14. Completes other duties as assigned/needed/necessary.

Requirements

Minimum Level of Education: Education level equivalent to completion of high school, and completion of Registered Nurse Training course of study.

Training: Management skills with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, interviewing, counseling, and verbal and written communications.

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must have and maintain an unencumbered Georgia Registered Nurse license, and Basic Life Support CPR certification.

Work Experience: One to two years related experience and/or training preferred.
