Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking a registered nurse to join the Burn Intensive Care Unit (3 West) on a full‑time/PRN basis. The role covers adult and pediatric burn patients with rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays, and emphasizes wound care, ventilator management, and infection prevention.

Required Ohio RN license, BLS, and ACLS/PALS within specified timelines; PRN requires 1 year of RN experience and current certifications. MetroHealth offers strong benefits and OPERS retirement.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and Ohio RN license.
• Current BLS for healthcare providers; ACLS and PALS either current or within 6 months of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of RN experience and current certifications at hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in Burn Intensive Care Unit (3 West) for adult and pediatric patients.
• Manage sterile dressing changes, infection prevention, and wound care.
• Monitor patients with ventilators, drains, and CRRT as needed.
• Collaborate with PCNAs, trauma surgeons, respiratory therapy, and other team members.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7a-7p/7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Join our Burn Intensive Care Unit, 3 West!

Primary Patient Population:

• Adult and Pediatric
• Severe Burns
• Frostbite
• Necrotizing Tissue Disease

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Care for hemodynamic instabilities
• Sterile dressing changes/Infection Prevention
• Complex Wound Care
• Managing surgical drains, mechanical ventilators, & CRRT

Personnel RN will work with:

• Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Trauma/Burn Surgeons, Respiratory Therapy, Child Life Specialists

Number of beds on unit:

• 8 inpatient beds
• Outpatient Clinic

Awards or Recognitions the unit has received:

• Verified Adult and Pediatric Burn Center ( 1 of 2 in Ohio)

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Current ACLS and PALS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
