Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse for Behavioral Health in an outpatient setting. You will join an interdisciplinary team including Medical Assistants, Therapists, Peer Recovery Coaches, and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.

The position is day shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with no weekends or holidays and provides support for PTO coverage as needed. Prior authorization support is part of the role.

Qualifications

• Requires ASN; BSN preferred.
• Active RN license in Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department.
• Behavioral health experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs and medical histories.
• Conduct triage and administer psychiatric and addiction-related injections.
• Assist with medication prior authorization as needed.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care.
• Support PTO coverage; work weekdays 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of relevant clinical experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• May require ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
• Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
