Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Ambulatory Surgical Center to provide primary nursing care in a dynamic ASC setting. You will coordinate pre-admission assessments and work four days per week, typically 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, averaging 32–36 hours weekly.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, rapid response to acuity changes, collaboration with the care team, medication administration, and patient/family education throughout their recovery.

Qualifications

  • Two-year Associate Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • One year of ASC, PACU or operating room experience is preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in the appropriate state is required.
  • ACLS and PALS certification are preferred.

  • Respond quickly to changing patient needs using critical thinking and clinical judgment.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care.

  • Educate, support, and advocate for patients and families throughout their emergency care experience.

Job description

What We Offer

The Registered Nurse ASC is expected to work in a primary nursing area for the center. The Registered Nurse ASC is able to function as a team member in an ASC environment through cross-training to other primary areas including but not limited to assisting with turnover, and all other aspects of day-to-day ASC operations. The RN ASC is also responsible for the coordination of the telephone pre-admission assessment process for patients in the ASC environment.

Schedule: Four days per week, typically 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, averaging approximately 32–36 hours per week. Start and end times may vary occasionally based on the surgical schedule and operational needs. The scheduled weekday off will vary based on staffing and PTO coverage.

What We're Looking For
  • Education:
    • 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
  • Experience:One year of ASC, PACU or operating room experience, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
    • ACLS and PALS, preferred.
  • Additional Skills (required):Must have a thorough understanding of role of RN and ability to carry out the functions as stated in the NC nurse practice act. Ability to set priorities and organize workload of unit. Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient’s age. Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs. Proficient in telephone screening and interviewing skills.
