Job Description

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of RN practice in pediatrics to be considered for an interview. GI and Ambulatory experience are highly preferred.

Hours are T-F with travel between Glenview and the main hospital campus. Clinic days start at 7:45 am.

This position involves Relationship Based Care for patients/families with acute and chronic diseases, disorders in pediatric and adolescent populations. Utilizes specialized knowledge to deliver nursing excellence, performing responsibilities across five areas: clinician, clinical inquiry, teacher, professional development, and leadership. Incorporates the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients regarding growth and development. Supports hospital and department quality goals and service excellence principles.

Job Duties:

  1. Performs nursing assessments using various methods and tools.
  2. Develops or individualizes care plans and goals based on family needs, evaluating changes accordingly.
  3. Creates or adapts teaching plans to meet patient and family learning needs, evaluating effectiveness.
  4. Provides nursing care following protocols, anticipating and effectively intervening in emergent situations.
  5. Communicates with families and multidisciplinary team members regarding healthcare needs and patient status, utilizing appropriate referral resources.
  6. Stays current with nursing practice through literature and ongoing education.
  7. Integrates quality initiatives into daily activities.
  8. Maintains communication, service excellence, and professional standards aligned with the hospital’s mission.
  9. Works collaboratively to meet unit and hospital goals.
  10. Identifies learning needs, seeks resources, and advances nursing practice.
  11. Performs job functions with a focus on innovation, service excellence, and teamwork.
  12. Demonstrates knowledge of protocols related to chemical disinfection, sterilization, and high-level disinfection as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher preferred.
  • Current Illinois RN licensure.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
  • Department-specific certifications may be required.
