Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to uphold nursing standards and drive performance improvement. The role emphasizes leadership in coordinating patient care, establishing therapeutic relationships, and mentoring new staff on an upbeat, patient-focused unit.

The RN will participate in clinical teamwork, ensure documentation accuracy, manage discharge planning, and support ongoing education and safety initiatives in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• BS in Nursing Preferred.
• Registered Professional Nurse in New York State License and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN Upon Hire Required.
• One (1) year of acute care RN experience is required; exceptional recent graduates will be considered.
• 2 years of RN experience in Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, or Emergency Department experience preferred.
• Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems (Medium proficiency).
• Effective English communication skills, both written and oral (Medium proficiency).
• OHS Fit Test Required.
• OHS Annual Assessment Required.
• Certification in specialty Upon Hire Preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Upon Hire Required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Training Upon Hire Required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Training Upon Hire Required.
• Infection Control & Barrier Precaution Training Upon Hire Required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates leadership in the coordination and delivery of patient care.
• Coordinates an interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Establishes a therapeutic relationship with patient/family.
• Assumes charge nurse assignment.
• Participates in orienting and development of associates by mentorship and assigned preceptorship.
• Documents patient/family teaching and discharge plans.
