Registered professional nurse who promotes excellence in nursing practice by delivering expert care to patients of all age groups, cultures, psychosocial, spiritual, and disability concerns.

The patient population served aligns with admission/discharge criteria. The nurse renders direct and indirect outcome nursing care through the application of the nursing process and functions within policies, practice guidelines, and nursing standards of SMH, in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, CDC, OSHA standards, and other applicable regulatory or accreditation agencies.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience
  • New Graduate Nurses accepted for some positions
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required
  • Successful completion of orientation and annual competencies

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:

  • Must meet all criteria associated with responsibilities detailed in this document and the core and unit-specific competencies for RNs
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, command of verbal and written English, positive and good organizational skills, and adaptability. Must create a favorable image within the Nursing department and the hospital as a whole
  • Must develop and maintain positive relationships across all areas of responsibility
  • Must demonstrate commitment to customer relations, continuous quality improvement, and error prevention to ensure patient safety
  • Provides timely, positive responses to the needs of patients, families, co-workers, and physicians

Educational Requirements:

  • Successful completion of pretests/exams, classroom orientation, and precepted clinical orientation
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred/required for Cardiac Rehab

License/Certification:

  • Current Massachusetts RN license
  • Documentation of ongoing clinical competencies and continuing education
  • Current BLS certification required for all RNs
  • ACLS certification required for Telemetry, ICU, ED, Cardiac Rehab, OR, and PACU RNs
  • NRP certification required for LDRP RNs
  • PALS certification required for ED and PACU RNs

Ability to effectively communicate with all age groups served within the scope of the position/assigned areas
