Day Kimball Health is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) in Putnam, CT for 24 hours per week on 8-hour shifts (11:00 AM – 7:30 PM). This role involves providing emergency care, collaborating with a dynamic team, and supporting patient-centered outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state of Connecticut is required.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three months of employment.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Summary:

As the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for diagnosing responses to actual or potential health problems and for providing basic emergent, supportive, and restorative care through use of the nursing process. Registered Nurse (RN) Job Responsibilities:

• Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Emergency Department
• Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination
• Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examination, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area
• Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses
• Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record
• Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy
• Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients

Registered Nurse (RN) Education and Experience Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required
• Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment
• Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area

Registered Nurse (RN) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to recognize unsafe and life‑threatening situations and how to intervene appropriately
• Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, and ability to make appropriate independent decisions
