Shelton, WA
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Registered Nurse 2 (RN2) for the Washington Corrections Center located in Shelton, WA.

*Registered Nurses will receive shift differential in the amount of two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour for evening shift and night shift work.

Registered Nurses will receive shift differential in the amount of two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour for evening shift and night shift work. Employees may also qualify for one or both of these supplemental shift premiums in addition to the above.

  • One dollar ($1.00) per hour during any hours assigned to work from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
  • Three dollars ($3.00) per hour during any hours worked from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight.
The Washington Corrections Center is our reception center where all individuals assigned to DOC come for initial evaluation and are then sent to other facilities for their care needs. This is a busy facility with outpatient and inpatient services, seeing patients for physicals, transfers, and various health concerns.
  • Inpatient unit is a 14-bed unit.
  • Specializes in liver disease, cancer care, and HEP-C, treating many chronic diseases.
  • Outpatient clinic sees between 15-30 patients daily for various reasons and treatments.

The registered nurse will:
  • Provide services promoting health, healing, and coping with health conditions.
  • Assess and evaluate incarcerated individuals and their conditions.
  • Respond to healthcare requests in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Delegate, supervise, and coordinate healthcare delivery.
  • Plan transitions, make referrals, and arrange follow-ups for transfers or community return.
  • Assist patients in self-care skills.
  • Provide counseling, education, and health information to improve service quality and safety.
Minimum qualifications include:
  • Active and unencumbered RN license in Washington or a multistate license from a participating Compact State, with completion of required training.
  • One year of RN experience.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support not accepted as a substitute).
Preferred qualification: Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
Note: Continuous unencumbered licensure as an RN is required.
