Job summary

McLaren Lapeer Region seeks a dedicated registered nurse to provide direct patient care in the Behavioral Health Unit. You will assess patients, plan and document care, and ensure safety and privacy in accordance with the Michigan Nurse Practice Act and hospital standards.

The role requires an active Michigan nursing license, BLS within 30 days, CPI within 6 months, and experience or readiness to participate in leadership and preceptorship as skills develop. Schedule is full-time with weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess valid State of Michigan Nursing License.
• BLS certified within 30 days of hire.
• CPI within 6 months of hire.

Position Summary

Assesses, plans, provides, and evaluates direct patient care to patients in the Behavioral Health Unit. Assures the quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the Michigan nurse Practice Act, McLaren Lapeer Region, and nursing department standards. Utilizing the nursing process, functions primarily in direct patient care. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient rights. Begins leadership and preceptor participation when performance demonstrates ability.

• Conducts, documents, and communicates patient assessments
• Observes patient behavior and reports potential problem situations to Charge Nurse and physicians
• Administers medications to patient as directed and documents in patient chart

Required

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Preferred

• Previous work experience in inpatient psychiatric nursing
• Minimum 1 year of experience as staff nurse
