DOC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for On-Call positions at the Washington Correction Center for Women in Gig Harbor, WA. This posting may be used to fill other vacancies that occur during this period.

Registered Nurse 2- ON CALL (RN2)

Location: Washington Corrections Center for Women (WCCW), Gig Harbor, WA

Shift: Various work schedules expected. This position covers the permanent RN positions during vacations or sick leave.

The facility cares for women with complex health needs, including infectious diseases, mental health issues, pregnant women, and those with substance use histories.

  • Inpatient unit: 14 beds
  • Outpatient Clinic: up to 120 patients daily
  • Chronic disease clinics for conditions like diabetes, hypertension, etc.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver health services promoting healing and supporting coping with health conditions.
  • Screen, assess, and evaluate offenders and their conditions.
  • Respond to healthcare requests in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Delegate, supervise, and coordinate healthcare activities.
  • Plan transitions, make referrals, and follow up on patient transfers or releases.
  • Assist patients in developing self-care skills.
  • Provide counseling, education, and health information to improve care quality and safety.
Qualifications
  • Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in Washington or a multistate license from a Compact State, with completion of required trainings.
  • At least one year of RN experience.
  • Current BLS certification from AHA.
Additional Requirements
  • Availability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to complete paid correctional core training (not mandatory).
