Job Description: Weekender must work every Fri, Sat, Sun. Increase hourly pay for WOW position. Coordinates and delivers patient care using the healthcare team philosophy practice model. Coordinates and does patient teaching and discharge planning. Coordinates activities with ancillary departments. Maintains standards of department and the hospital. Reports to Nurse Manager or designee.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to ensure a positive patient care experience.
• Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in the scope of the job role or practice.
• Adheres to infection-control policies, medication procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
• Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
• Ensures compliance with organizational policies and professional standards.
• Handles confidential patient information per policies.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service aligning with the organization’s values.
• Follows professional standards, hospital policies, and legal requirements.

Essential Functions:

• Provides optimal nursing care through planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions.
• Implements patient care plans and physician’s orders accurately.
• Maintains standards of patient care and documentation.
• Participates in safety and quality improvement initiatives.
• Supports infection control policies and emergency procedures.
• Participates in staff training and policy reviews.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Functional Demands: Prolonged standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, patient transfers, reaching, bending, visual and auditory acuity, manual dexterity, ability to work under stress, and exposure to hazardous agents with proper precautions.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 1 year as an RN.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Skills: Ability to assess patient needs, good judgment, communication skills, CPR certification, willingness to rotate shifts/overtime.
• Licensure: Current Mississippi RN license.
