Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to average-risk and high-risk pregnant patients, including prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum care, in collaboration with perinatal service-providing clinicians and healthcare teams.
  • Monitor and assess the health of pregnant patients, identifying complications or risk factors that may require specialized intervention or referral.
  • Educate patients on prenatal care, pregnancy health, childbirth, common chronic conditions of pregnancy (including gestational diabetes and hypertension in pregnancy) and postpartum care, tailoring information to their specific needs and cultural background.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for average-risk and high-risk pregnant patients, ensuring timely follow-up and coordination with other healthcare clinicians.
  • Assist with diagnostic tests, including ultrasounds, non-stress tests, and other monitoring procedures to track fetal health and pregnancy progress.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and prenatal supplements as prescribed, while ensuring patients understand proper usage and potential side effects.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to patients, addressing concerns about pregnancy, labor, delivery, pregnancy loss, and infant care.
  • Document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the electronic health record (EHR) in compliance with clinical protocols and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and community resources to address social determinants of health and ensure comprehensive care for patients with complex needs.
  • Participate in health education programs and prenatal classes aimed at promoting healthy pregnancies, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
  • Facilitate care team meetings overseeing high-risk pregnancy cases.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in average-risk and high-risk obstetrics and gynecology through continuing education and professional development.
  • Support CPSP/NEST orientation appointments by collecting detailed patient health histories and ordering first-trimester labs.
  • Facilitate and support CPSP (NEST) group classes such as prenatal health, nutrition, and breastfeeding education.
  • Assist in case management (including NEST patients), including tracking follow-ups, coordinating care with providers, and addressing patient needs throughout pregnancy.
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.

Job description

We areseekinga compassionate and experienced OB Registered Nurse to join our team.   • Minimum of 2 years of experience in OB/GYN nursing, withexperience managinghigh-risk pregnanciesrequired.
