Job summary

Forefront Dermatology is seeking an outpatient Medical Assistant to support the dermatologist during patient visits. You will room patients, document vitals, and assist with procedures, ensuring a smooth and compassionate visit for clients and staff.

The role requires basic medical office experience and strong teamwork. Growth opportunities exist in a busy dermatology setting with a supportive team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Post-high school education in medical support field (CMA/LPN/RN often preferred).
• 1+ years of medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and documenting vital information.
• Scribing for the dermatologist.
• Provide post-op wound care to patients.
• Draw blood and suture removal.
• Clean and stock exam rooms.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Assist the dermatologist with procedures such as biopsies, excisions, electrodessication, I&D, Mohs surgery, phototherapy, injections, tzank/patch tests.

This position is essential during the patient visit, accompanying the dermatologist in the room and promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
• Scheduling patient appointments

Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

• Surgical photographs
• Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave
• Excisions
• Electrodessication and curettage
• I&D
• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
• Phototherapy
• Injections
• Koh preps
• Trichograms
• Tzank preps
• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Post High School education in a medical support field:

• Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
