A Cardiac Catheterization Lab RN plays a crucial role in the cardiac catheterization lab, focusing on the care of patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures. Primary responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures such as angioplasties and stent placements, monitoring vital signs, and administering medications. Cath Lab RNs work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth execution of procedures, maintain sterile environments, and manage any complications that might arise.
Additionally, Cath Lab RNs provide pre- and post-procedure education and support to patients and their families, ensuring they understand the process and recovery steps. Cath Lab RNs' expertise and quick decision-making skills are vital in emergency situations, making them indispensable members of the cardiac care team.
