Job summary

The Huntington Assisted Living in Newport News, VA is seeking a Registered Medication Assistant (RMA) to join our care team. The role supports safe medication administration from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with a $20.00–$23.00 hourly range based on experience and incentives.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Medication Technician/Aide Certification in Virginia.
• Must be a CNA or CHHA/HHA, as required.
• Previous CMA experience preferred.
• Experience administering oral, topical, ophthalmic, and subcutaneous medications.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to follow clinical instructions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications safely and accurately per physician orders and policies.
• Deliver medications via oral, topical, ophthalmic, and subcutaneous routes as allowed.
• Observe residents for responses; document and report changes or adverse reactions.
• Assist with basic resident care under licensed staff guidance.
• Ensure medications stored, secured, and accounted for per procedures.
• Maintain timely documentation of medication administration and care activities.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to promote resident-centered care.

SHIFT: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Hourly Range: $20.00 - $23.00/hr (Based on Experience & Incentives) ALL INCLUSIVE

No Frills Program for Full-Time Employees: If you opt for no benefits (no vacation, sick time, personal days, or holidays), you’ll earn an additional $3/hour on top of your base pay.

Responsibilities for Registered Medication Assistant (RMA):

• Administer medications to residents safely and accurately in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and state regulations.

• Provide medications via oral, topical, optic, ophthalmic, and subcutaneous routes as permitted by certification and scope of practice.

• Observe residents for responses to medications, document appropriately, and promptly report any changes, concerns, or adverse reactions to nursing staff.

• Assist with basic resident care under the direction of licensed nursing staff to support overall health and well-being.

• Ensure medications are properly stored, secured, and accounted for in accordance with facility procedures and regulatory requirements.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all medication administration and related resident care activities.

• Collaborate with nursing staff and the care team to promote resident-centered care and positive health outcomes.

Qualifications for Registered Medication Assistant (RMA):

• Must hold a valid Medication Technician/Aide Certification in the state of employment.

• Must also be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA/HHA), as required.

• Previous Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) experience required.

• Experience in administering oral, topical, optic, ophthalmic medications, and subcutaneous injections required.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow clinical instructions accurately and consistently.

• Ability to work effectively with multiple residents in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment.
