Job summary

LifeSpire of Virginia - The Chesapeake is seeking an RMA/CNA to support our Assisted Living/Memory Care team. This part-time 3rd shift (11pm–7am) role focuses on compassionate care for residents with opportunities for growth within a faith-based community.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, Virginia nursing registrations, and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Benefits include health coverage, PTO, retirement contributions, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• High school graduate/GED; Must be 18 years or older
• Current registration as a Medication Aide and Nurse Aide in good standing issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy and compassion
• Good collaboration and teamwork skills
• Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
• In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations
• Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions
• Comfortable working with elderly patients and those with special needs
• Physical strength and stamina

Responsibilities

• Administer medications in accordance with Virginia Board of Nursing regulations.
• Document in MAR all medications administered.
• Check and record vital signs, weights and blood sugars as ordered and recorded.
• Successfully pass a medication administration observation at least annually.
• Provide for or assist with activities of daily living as needed (bathing, oral care, toileting, dressing).
• Assist residents with transfers and ambulation using proper body mechanics and gait belts.
• Assist other staff with heavy lifting and transfers per policy and physician orders

Essential Duties

• Administer medications in accordance with accepted practices presented in the Virginia Board of Nursing Medication Aide Regulations.
• Document in Medication Administration Record (MAR) all medications administered.
• Check and record vital signs, weights and blood sugars as ordered and record.
• Successfully pass a medication administration observation at least annually.
• Provide for or assist patients with activities of daily living as needed, including bathe/shower according to schedule, oral care, toileting, dressing, etc.
• Assist residents with transfers and ambulation as directed and ordered by the physician using proper body mechanics. Use of facility gait belts and mechanical devices is required.
• Assist other staff with heavy lifting, transferring, and use of proper equipment according to policy and physicians’ orders.
