Job summary

BJC Medical Group in Alton, Illinois is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to assist physicians and licensed providers. The MA will perform clinical tasks, obtain patient histories, take vital signs and ensure accurate charting.

The role includes phlebotomy, EKGs, injections and point-of-care testing, with plenty of room to develop skills in a supportive team environment. Enjoy a day shift with 40 hours per week, a $2,500 sign-on bonus eligibility, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No Experience required.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.
• Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains charting in the patient's record.
• Performs clinical skills such as phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care testing and injections.
• Triage calls, provides test and lab results to patients and presents information to the provider with proper medical terminology.

Overview

Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including Children’s at Memorial for pediatric emergency care. It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. In addition, Memorial Belleville recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.

Role Purpose

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides medical assistance under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. This position performs select duties for the promotion of health in the care of patients and delivers care according to practice protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.
• Obtains vital signs, patient history and maintains accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.
• Performs clinical skills, such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKGs), point-of-care testing and injections.
• Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to provider with correct medical terminology.
