Accounting Manager (Path to Controller)

Wealth Management / RIA/Family Office (Financial Services)

Our client is a well-regarded and growing wealth management and family office firm known for its personalized approach, deep client relationships, and commitment to serving the complex needs of high-net-worth individuals and families. The firm currently manages over $1 billion in assets, primarily on behalf of high-net-worth clients.

They are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee the firm’s day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This is a key role that offers a defined path to Controller, as the firm continues to grow and evolve its finance function. The Accounting Manager will work closely with senior leadership and will also provide support to the Family Office Services (FOS) team in serving select ultra-high-net-worth clients.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager:

• Oversee daily accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Assist in managing the firm’s budget and cash flow projections
• Support tax filings and ensure timely submissions
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including monthly reporting packages for firm leadership
• Help enhance and monitor internal controls and accounting procedures

Compliance Support

• Assist with SEC-related compliance matters such as Form ADV filings (experience helpful but not required)
• Work with the firm’s compliance consultant to support audit readiness and evolving regulatory needs

Family Office Support

Support the Family Office Services team with select client needs, including:

• Preparation of personal financial statements
• Support for tax planning and reporting
• Contribution to financial modeling and budgeting

Special Projects

• Participate in process improvement initiatives and system upgrades
• Assist with the implementation of new financial tools and reporting solutions
• Take part in ad hoc financial analyses to support business growth

Qualifications of the Accounting Manager:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or progress toward certification strongly preferred
• 6-8 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally including exposure to wealth management, family office, or high-net-worth client environments
• Ability to perform tactical finance and accounting responsibilities, but also contribute strategic insights to support business operations and financial decision-making
• Experience with SEC-related reporting or Form ADV compliance is a plus
• Strong proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and financial modeling tools
• Excellent analytical and communication skills; high attention to detail
• Proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Strong interest in taking on increasing responsibilities and growing into a Controller role over time
