Job summary

AVI Foodsystems, Inc. is seeking a Traveling K-12 Registered Dietitian to lead nutrition programs within our School Services Division.

You will provide nutrition leadership, regulatory guidance, and menu development for public and private school dining. This role travels between school locations, collaborates with on-site food service teams and administrators, and adapts nutrition strategies to diverse school environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition Dietetics from an accredited program.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) and state licensure.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nutrition services and NSLP/USDA regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to counsel individuals and groups.
• ServSafe Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document an individualized nutrition intervention plan.
• Provide timely follow‑up and documentation.
• Assess needs considering age-specific populations and cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns.
• Evaluate progress and adjust care plans for MNT interventions.
• Collaborate with foodservice teams to ensure conformance to diet prescriptions.
• Provide nutrition counseling for individuals and groups.
• Participate in community projects and education as needed.

AVI Foodsystems is looking for an energetic and optimistic team member to immediately hire to fill the role of Traveling K-12 Registered Dietitian for our School Services Division. We are seeking a knowledgeable, service-oriented, and highly motivated Registered Dietitian to support our diverse portfolio of public and private school dining programs. This position will provide nutrition leadership, regulatory guidance, menu development, and operational support to school accounts, helping ensure that each program delivers high-quality, nutritious, appealing meals that meet the unique needs of its students and school communities.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in public school nutrition programs, a strong understanding of USDA meal pattern requirements and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) regulations and demonstrated proficiency with school nutrition software and menu management systems. This individual must be comfortable traveling between school locations, working directly with on‑site food service teams and school administrators, and adapting nutrition strategies to meet the distinct requirements of both public and private school environments.

This role requires a balance of regulatory expertise, operational understanding, client interactions and strong relationship‑building skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement and document an individualized plan for nutrition intervention
• Provide timely follow‑up and documentation
• Utilize assessment and evaluation techniques that consider the varied needs of age‑specific populations as well as cultural, Religious and ethnic concerns
• Evaluate the effectiveness and measure progress towards outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions; reassess nutrition care process and implement changes as indicated
• Work cooperatively with foodservice team/host to assure conformance to diet prescriptions
• Assess educational needs and provide nutrition counseling for individuals and groups
• Participating in community projects and education as needed/assigned
• Conduct in services and educational presentations
• Maintain productivity standards and practice effective time management and prioritizing tasks
• Maintain accurate record keeping of daily clinical activities, including information of rescheduling and billing

Requirements:

• Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition Dietetics from an approved/accredited university or college program
• Ideal candidates must also be a Registered Dietitian (RD) through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and licensed to practice in the state in which they work
• Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to patients, public, team members and hospital staff
• Ability to function independently and to counsel and educate others
• General knowledge of nutrient analysis required
• Ability to work and be a part of the operation and clinical teams
• Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software
• ServSafe Certification is preferred
