Job summary

Memphis-Shelby County Schools is seeking a Registered Dietitian for its Nutrition Services Department to develop, analyze, and maintain nutritious menus for students. The role plans, coordinates, and evaluates operational procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing School Nutrition Programs.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Food Service or Nutrition, is a Registered Dietitian (or eligible within 6 months), and maintains CDR credentials.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or eligible for registration within 6 months of employment.
• Must maintain national credentialing through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Master’s Degree preferred with deadline compliance for CDR requirements.
• School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) and ServSafe credentials are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops, analyzes, and maintains nutritious school menus meeting USDA regulations.
• Plans, coordinates and evaluates procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for School Nutrition Programs.
• Provides training to school nutrition employees and staff on regulations, updates, and food safety.
• Collaborates with operational teams to meet nutrition guidelines and cost goals.
• Maintains nutrition databases and analyzes reports to support menu planning.
• Assesses IEP/504 plans for dietary needs and develops nutrition care plans.
• Develops vendor relationships and monitors supply sources and pricing.
• Serves as dietetic preceptor and participates in wellness initiatives.
