Job summary

Aspen Grove Behavioral Hospital is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join our nutrition team in Utah. The role involves assessing patient nutritional needs, counseling families, and approving dietary plans within a psychiatric hospital setting.

The RD will supervise dietary staff, ensure menus meet modified diets, and align care with Joint Commission standards while supporting a team-focused environment and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in dietetics or related field is required.
• Utah Registered Dietitian license is required.
• Food Handler's permit required.
• 1–3 years of dietitian experience in an acute psychiatric hospital setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Joint Commission standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide dietary/nutrition plans and counseling for patients.
• Supervise Dietary/Kitchen staff and assist Lead Chef.
• Approve hospital menus including modified diets.
• Monitor nutrition-related care plans and patient improvements.
• Coordinate with Dietary Services to meet Joint Commission standards.

Position Details:

• Full-Time, salaried non-exempt, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm, with some weekends, as needed

Your goals and objectives include:

• The Registered Dietitian also serves as the Dietary/Kitchen supervisor (provides supervision/mentorship to the Lead Chef)
• Approves menus including modified diets from the hospital, provides nutritional assessments for patients as needed, and counsel's patients and their families on dietary plans, food selections, preparation and nutritional principles.
• Monitors the performance improvement plans of the Dietary Services department and provides input in the development and implementation of patient care plans in relation to nutritional needs.
• Coordinate Dietary Services Department within The Joint Commission (TJC) standards
• Knowledge of all facets of nutritional and dietary planning, including unique dietary needs of adolescents and adults age groups.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Master's degree REQUIRED (effective 2020)
• Utah Registered Dietitan (RD) license REQUIRED
• Food Handler's permit required
• One (1) - three (3) years dietitian experience in an acute psychiatric hospital setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of The JOINT COMMISSION standards
• Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass thorough pre-employment background check and drug test
