Job summary

Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior in California seeks a licensed RD/RDN to support nutrition services across outpatient centers for elderly and medically complex patients. The role combines hands-on nutrition care with operational leadership to meet regulatory standards.

You will conduct assessments, develop MNT plans, ensure CACFP compliance, oversee meals, train staff, and contribute to CQI initiatives while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Active RD/RDN with CDR number.
  • Valid BLS certification.
  • CA Food Handler/Protection Manager certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year of RD/RDN clinical nutrition experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nutrition assessments and medical nutrition therapy for patients.
  • Provide remote and in-person coverage across care centers.
  • Ensure CACFP compliance with menus, audits and documentation.
  • Oversee meal service operations and diet changes.
  • Train staff during onboarding and ongoing competency.
  • Deliver in-services to kitchen staff on evidence-based care.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting and compliance docs.
  • Contribute to CQI initiatives and interdisciplinary committees.
  • Collaborate with managers to align care with goals.

Job Summary: This role offers a unique opportunity to support nutrition services across multiple care centers, providing both hands‑on and administrative support to ensure the highest standards of patient nutrition and regulatory compliance.

This position is ideal for a motivated RD who thrives in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment and is looking to make a broader impact on the health and well‑being of elderly and medically complex patients through expert nutrition care and operational leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and follow‑ups to support patient health, including medical nutrition therapy, therapeutic diets, supplements, enteral nutrition, counseling, and education.

  • Provide both remote and in‑person coverage across care centers for nutrition‑related needs including assessments, care planning, and team‑based coordination.

  • Ensure compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) by planning compliant menus, conducting quarterly audits, and maintaining required documentation.

  • Oversee meal service operations by maintaining diet records, implementing diet changes, and auditing food preparation processes for quality and accuracy.

  • Train and support staff through onboarding, process implementation, and ongoing competency development.

  • Deliver educational in‑services to kitchen staff and team members to promote evidence‑based nutrition care practices.

  • Participate in data collection, reporting, and compliance documentation to support department goals and continuous improvement.

  • Contribute to program planning, CQI initiatives, and interdisciplinary committees aimed at improving patient health outcomes and overall service delivery.

  • Collaborate with department managers, quality teams, and other organizational leaders to align nutrition care with strategic goals.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Active Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

  • Valid BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross).

  • California Food Handler or Food Protection Manager Certification from an ANSI‑accredited training provider (required within 90 days of hire).

  • Minimum 1 year of professional work experience as an RD/RDN in clinical nutrition.

Desired Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience working with elderly or medically complex populations.

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese, depending on regional demographics.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, Cantonese, or Mandarin is highly valued.

  • Post‑professional education and training in Physical Agent Modality preferred.
