Job summary

Henry Ford Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary care team on a PRN/Contingent basis at the West Bloomfield, MI location. The role focuses on evidence-based nutrition for behavioral health patients, supporting recovery and managing medical and psychiatric conditions.

Responsibilities include nutrition assessments, menu approvals, counseling, and collaboration with the medical team. RD/RDN credentials and ServSafe certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field acceptable for licensure.
• Experience with eating disorders and substance use disorders preferred.
• Behavioral health, psychiatric, hospital, or residential treatment settings preferred.
• Current RD/RDN credential required or eligible for state endorsement.
• ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification required.

• Assess nutritional needs and develop dietary-care plans with counseling.
• Approve patient menus and nutritional supplements.
• Advise patients and families on nutrition principles and food choices.
• Provide nutritional assessments per facility policy.
• Review and approve menus and diet manuals with staff.

• Consult with physicians to determine needs and restrictions.
• Participate in treatment team as appropriate.
• Promote health by speaking about nutrition and disease prevention.
• Monitor food service operations for compliance with standards.

Henry Ford Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Registered Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary care team on a PRN/Contingent basis. In this role, you will serve as the nutrition expert for patients receiving behavioral health services, using evidence-based nutrition practices to promote wellness, support recovery, and assist in the management of medical and psychiatric conditions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field acceptable for licensure.
• Experience working with patients diagnosed with eating disorders and substance use disorders strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, hospital, or residential treatment settings preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

• Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential required, or registration as required by the state, or eligibility for endorsement in the state where services are provided.
• Current ServSafe Certification or comparable food safety certification, required.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.
• Approve patient menus and nutritional supplements.
• Advise patients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans, diet modifications and food selection and preparation.
• Provide nutritional assessments per facility policy and regulation.
• Review and approve menus developed by the facility.

• Counsel individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life.
• Consult with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient.
• Participate in treatment team as appropriate.
• Review and approve facility diet manual annually in conjunction with medical staff.
• Promote better health by speaking to groups about diet, nutrition and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases.

• Monitor food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation and quality standards as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Dietetics, Nutrition or similar field acceptable for licensure.

• Experience with Eating Disorders and Substance use strongly preferred in facilities working with those patient populations.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Current registered dietician or registration as required by state or eligible for endorsement by the state in which the facility provides services.
• ServSafe certification or similar food safety certification where required by the state or facility.
