Job summary

St. James Healthcare Center, LLC in New York seeks a Part-Time Registered Dietitian to join its caring team. You will interview patients and families for nutritional history, update diet orders, assess and document in medical records, and provide dietary guidance as part of comprehensive care.

The role involves coordinating diet modifications, calculating tube feeding nutrients, and collaborating with clinicians to tailor therapeutic diets and monitor outcomes for residents.

Qualifications

• Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics required.
• Must be a Registered Dietitian or RD eligible.
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patient and/or family for nutritional history and preferences.
• Update diet order and menu changes in computer menu software as needed.
• Assesses patients and documents in patients’ medical records.
• Recommends therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians for patients.
• Ensures accuracy of diet order received by checking against physician’s order.
• Calculates nutrient content of tube feeding as ordered by physicians.
• Provides nutritional guidance and counseling to patients and their families.
• Assess/Monitor Residents' nutritional status and develop care plans.
• Assess feeding ability and recommend adaptive feeding equipment as needed.
• Evaluate special needs and monitor nutrition support and weight changes.
• Monitor Resident meal service to ensure diet modifications are followed.
• Routinely evaluate Dietary Care plans for effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Speech-Language Pathologist for dysphagia diets.
• Collaborate with Wound Care Team to promote healing.
• Knowledge/experience of MDS 3.0 is a plus.

Registered Dietitian (Part Time) Requirements:

Registered Dietitian (Part Time) Responsibilities:

• Interviews patient and/or family for nutritional history and preferences.
• Update diet order and menu changes in computer menu software as needed
• Assesses patients and documents in patients’ medical records.
• Recommends therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians for patients.
• Ensures accuracy of diet order received by checking against physician’s order.
• Calculates nutrient content of tube feeding as ordered by physicians.
• Provides nutritional guidance and counseling to patients and their families. Provides written material as needed and according to prescribed diet.
• Assess / Monitor the Residents' nutritional status in appropriate time frame, provide recommendations to medical staff and develops adequate care plans
• Assess feeding ability and make recommendations for adaptive feeding equipment to occupational therapy as needed.
• Evaluate special needs of Residents regarding nutrition support, skin breakdown monthly, and significant weight changes.
• Monitor Resident meal service to ensure diet modifications are followed
• Routinely evaluate Dietary Care plans for effectiveness to ensure high quality of care
• Work closely with a Speech-Language Pathologist to ensure appropriate mechanically altered diets are provided for residents with dysphagia
• Works closely with the Wound Care Team to promote healing
• Knowledge and or experience of MDS 3.0 is a plus

Salary: Up to $37 an hour
