St. Ann’s Community is currently looking for a part time Dietitian for the St. Ann’s Home located on the Portland Campus. The primary purpose of this position is to proactively facilitate each household’s effort to promote the nutritional well being of all residents and guides households as needed in providing person centered dining and nutrition services.

Job Description:
- Performs professional assessments in accordance with accepted standards of dietetic practice in the long-term care setting.
- Monitors nutritional status, formulates nutrition plan of care, and documents within accepted time frames and as needed.
- Works collaboratively with other disciplines to achieve maximum medical nutrition therapy (MNT) outcomes.
- Attend rounds with interdisciplinary team, provide input as it relates to weight changes, skin integrity, and nutrition status.
- Provide clinical data at rounds as it pertains to labs, weight changes, and overall nutrition status.
- Present patients/residents who have exhibited weight changes, potential nutrition-related etiology, and interventions in place to nursing, medical, and therapy.
- Effectively represent Nutrition Services at Interdisciplinary Care Plan meetings.
- Review and approve safety of food requests for special meals on households with consideration to consistencies, allergies/intolerances, and therapeutic diets.
- Work closely with Dining and Nutrition leadership towards ongoing menu development and strategies to combat menu fatigue to include seasonal changes, holidays, planned monthly events & specials, demonstration cooking events, special requests, and spontaneous meal presentations.
- Accepts direction from St. Ann’s Nutrition Services Manager in respect to clinical nutrition practices at St. Ann’s Community.
- Assist with updating household dining operations manual.
- Lead/champion efforts to continuously improve nutrition-related knowledge and skills to staff in households, assuring that the households have the needed resources (materials and supplies, skills, and knowledge) to be successful.
- Participates in teams to develop parameters for household management that support the values of person-centered and resident-directed care.
- Present nutrition topics on a regular basis to staff (nursing and non-nursing) about nutrition, food safety, therapeutic diets, modified consistencies through meetings, meal rounds/observations, etc.
- Develops & implements training programs for new and existing CNA & nursing staff, lead or taught by the Dining and Nutrition Department.
- Ensures that nutrition care is provided, and dining operations are conducted in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and professional standards, while honoring person-centered care.
- Encourage appropriate record keeping and charting in households, assist with maintaining appropriate files to document compliance.
- Performs professional audits and observations (examples: Stage 1 and 2 QIS audits, meal rounds, sanitation audits, others), as assigned.
- Weekend rotation (kitchen support, meaningful engagement, support staff as member of weekend rounding team)
Candidate Requirements:
- Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian eligible
- Must have demonstrated leadership qualities and skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and knowledge of federal and state regulations governing nutrition practice.
- Demonstrates strong communication and relationship-building skills and is able to explain resident’s needs to others as needed for resident advocacy.
