Job summary

NHC HealthCare Charleston is seeking a Registered Dietitian to assess the nutritional status of patients/residents and plan care to improve status as needed. The RDN will collaborate with the Director of Food and Nutrition Services and staff to provide guidance and ensure high-quality nutrition care.

Experience in clinical nutrition is preferred; Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for RDNs must be met.

Qualifications

Must have sincere interest in foodservice & nutrition and enjoy working with the senior care living population and other healthcare patients.
Must meet Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for RDNs.
At least one year's experience in clinical nutrition is desired but not essential. Experience of an accredited Dietetic Internship or equivalent training is expected.
Must have a thorough knowledge of and be able to apply nutrition principles. Must be able to accurately use this knowledge to assess nutritional status and plan care for the patients.

Responsibilities

Assess nutritional status of patients/residents and plan approaches to improve status as needed.
Provide guidance to Director of Food and Nutrition Services, FNS Manager, NDTR, and staff.
Liaise with medical and nursing staff and administrators; may include broader duties within food and nutrition services.

Job description

Registered Dietitian

The Registered Dietitian will ensure that the nutritional status of all patients/residents is assessed accurately and to plan approaches to improve status if needed. The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) will provide guidance to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), FNS Manager, Nutrition and Dietetics Technician Registered (NDTR), and/or the staff of FNS Department. If not based in-house, visits to the centers are at appropriate times and of sufficient duration and frequency to provide continuing liaison with the medical and nursing staff, advice to the Administrator, and guidance to the FNS department. Although the emphasis of this position is in the clinical area, duties may include all aspects of food and nutrition services.
