Overview

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the nutrition screening, assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and education of MMCI patients through an integrated approach to nutrition care.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive nutrition care of patients according to policies & procedures
  • Responsible for nutritional assessments completed 100% per policy
  • Meets charting guidelines 100% of the time as determined by chart audits
  • Provides quality medical nutrition therapy as appropriate on patient care units, including necessary follow-ups and in accordance with facility policy
  • Performs nutrition-focused physical exams as medically appropriate for diagnosis of malnutrition
  • Participates in review of Patient Satisfaction Data and contributes to action plan development and implementation
• Actively provides nutrition support through assessment, development of a nutrition care plan, implementation of the plan, and monitoring of nutrition therapy
  • Collaborates with Nutritional Services Team to provide nutrition therapy in a timely manner; participate in required weekend and holiday rotation
  • Writes and manages TPN and PN including labs orders and review with pharmacological recommendations and follow up as necessary
  • Writes and manages enteral nutrition as necessary with follow ups as needed
  • Participates in rounds, education seminars, Journal Club, team meetings, etc. to gain knowledge in Nutrition Support and MNT
  • Accurately documents assessment and MNT in the patient EMR and menu management program
• Provides nutrition care of patients according to regulatory bodies and current knowledge
  • Maintains knowledge of regulations
  • Analyzes performance against regulations and suggests improvements for compliance and optimal nutrition care
  • Fulfills CDR and IDPH education requirements and maintains portfolio for audits
• Provides nutrition education to patients, families, community events, staff, media, dietetic students and interns
  • Develops and uses processes to determine patient education needs
  • Works with Dining Hosts to determine patient education needs
  • Assists with in-services for Dining Hosts regarding diets
  • Delivers nutrition education to patients, family members, staff, and community groups
  • Participates in training of Dietetic Students and Dietetic Interns; plans curriculum and mentors assignments
  • Participates in intern Case Study Presentations and preceptor duties
  • Assists with intern midterm and final reviews

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $23.52 per hour - $39.28 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health.
