Job Description

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for overseeing the Dietary component in tandem with the Center For Discovery Clinical Model.

Responsibilities:

1. Meet with each patient on a weekly basis to implement and manage individualized dietary meal plans, including conducting weekly calorie counts.
2. Conduct Dietary Intake assessments on admission.
3. Complete documentation on each client’s progress throughout the treatment, ensuring daily progress notes reflect the goals within the treatment plan.
4. Facilitate nutrition groups appropriate for adult and adolescent age groups.
5. Implement one dietary treatment plan for each client within a week of admission.
6. Communicate regularly with referring and outpatient treatment teams throughout the patient's treatment episode.
7. Oversee Diet Techs to promote supportive mealtimes and monitor supplementation.
8. Collaborate with the Director of Dietary Services and the treatment team to ensure high standards of nutrition and dietary services.
9. Enforce dietary programs and advise clients on food choices.
10. Understand the medical consequences of eating disorders, the hazards of refeeding, and how to avoid complications.
11. Implement specific dietary exchange patterns based on portion size and caloric recommendations.
12. Facilitate family sessions and education, including therapeutic meals as appropriate.
13. Communicate with medical doctors and psychiatrists regarding any medical issues requiring dietary intervention.
14. Remain accessible to family members, including weekly communication (phone, email, or in person) with parents of adolescents.
15. Participate in on-call rotation as needed (residential level of care only).

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm

This position is for the residential level of care. It is salaried, and the dietitian participates in an on-call rotation once every five weeks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree with appropriate emphasis and completion of an accredited dietetic internship.
• Preferred one year of experience in dietary counseling.
• The Registered Dietitian must be fully registered/certified in the appropriate state; candidates who have completed their dietetic internship and are eligible to take the registration exam may be considered.
• Thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietary interventions in the mental health field.
