Job summary

The ideal candidate has a BS in Nutrition, completed a dietetic internship, and is ADA registered, with at least 1 year of clinical nutrition experience. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Responsibilities

• Get to know your patients through initial and ongoing assessments.
• Assess and monitor nutritional status like a detective; identify issues early.
• Create personalized nutrition plans; teach patients and staff how to follow them.
• Be the nutrition educator for patients, caregivers, and unit staff.
• Coordinate with hospitals, home health agencies, and community programs to ensure continuity of care.
• Review labs with patients monthly and discuss progress.
• Suggest nutritional solutions for medications and supplements to support patient health.
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary team meetings to contribute to care plans.

Registered Dietitian - Dialysis (Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week)

We are seeking aRegistered Dietitianto join our dialysis team in a full-time, 40-hour-per-week role. This is asplit-site position, providing nutrition services and patient support across two outpatient dialysis facilities in the Metro Detroit area. The successful candidate will divide their time between both locations and collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to support optimal patient outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities

• **Get to know your patients** through initial and ongoing assessments -interviews that help you understand their unique nutritional needs and goals
• **Assess and monitor** nutritional status like a detective, catching issues early and keeping patients on track
• **Create personalized nutrition plans** that actually work -calculating, prescribing, and teaching patients and staff how to succeed with their diets
• **Be the nutrition educator** your patients need -delivering engaging nutritional guidance to patients, caregivers, and unit staff
• **Build bridges** between care settings by coordinating with hospitals, extended care facilities, home health agencies, senior centers, and community programs like Meals on Wheels
• **Keep tabs on adherence** and celebrate wins when patients stick to their plans
• **Recommend smart solutions** for phosphorus binders, renal vitamins, supplements, and other medications that support patient health
• **Review labs together** with patients each month -turning numbers into meaningful conversations about progress
• **Problem-solve creatively** around nutritional challenges, from alternate feeding routes to supplemental nutrition strategies
• **Jump into action** during critical moments -responding quickly to urgent situations like hyperkalemia with confidence and expertise
• **Connect the dots** between medications and nutrition, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
• **Collaborate like a pro** in interdisciplinary team meetings, contributing your expertise to comprehensive patient care plans
• **Drive quality improvements** by actively participating in unit quality initiatives and GHS dietitian committees
• **Hunt down resources** that help your patients thrive nutritionally
• **Be a team player** who makes and receives referrals, shares knowledge, and develops educational materials that make a real impact
• **Lead by example** as a professional role model for colleagues and interns
• **Stay sharp** through professional development -attending conferences, maintaining memberships, and diving into nephrology-focused learning
• **Keep your RD credentials current** through continuing education in nephrology
