Job Summary

Plans and delivers nutritional care to patients according to the patient’s diagnosis and condition. Performs as a member of the multidisciplinary care team and actively works with the DCI contract for dialysis patients. Responds to outpatient consults and assesses patients that have nutritional risk factors.

Essential Duties
  • Proficiently assesses patients with a variety of medical conditions, including high acuity care settings, utilizing the established standards of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Completes assessments in a timely manner, in accordance with facility standards.
  • Communicates and collaborates with clinicians on the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates consideration of cultural and religious beliefs in the development of care plans.
  • Calculates enteral and parenteral nutrition recommendations, according to facility policy.
  • Proficiently completes a nutrition‑focused physical exam.
  • Familiar with malnutrition diagnostic criteria and documents suspected malnutrition clearly in the nutrition assessment note.
  • Understands and effectively communicates medical nutrition therapy recommendations for frequently‑encountered diet education topics.
  • Follows facility policy and standards regarding order‑writing of diets, supplements, nutrition support, and/or vitamin and mineral supplements.
  • Has thorough knowledge of therapeutic diets, including when each is appropriate to be ordered and what foods/beverages are permitted for each diet.
  • Provides in‑services as requested by other hospital departments.
  • Maintains active registration with the Commission of Dietetics Registration, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and state licensure board.
Education, Experience & Certification
  • Registered dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Licensed Dietitian with the State of Wyoming Dietetic Licensing Board.
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • BLS, required.
Additional Skills
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge and effectively learn new technology.
  • Proficiency in medical nutrition therapy and critical care nutrition support.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with other members of the interdisciplinary medical team (including physicians, nursing, physical therapy, etc.).
  • Provide nutrition services staff with dietary restrictions and recommendations for patients.
Specific Demands

Possible exposure to blood and/or body fluids, infectious disease, hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals/ specimens and latex products.

Pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening is required.
