Job summary

Elior Living is seeking an experienced registered dietitian for our healthcare team at John J Kane Regional Center in Pittsburgh. You will identify and assess nutritional needs of residents, initiate interventions to maintain status, and improve quality of life in line with patient goals.

You will provide nutritional expertise to care teams, educate patients, comply with Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics standards, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within dining services.

Qualifications

• Pass national exam (CDR) or eligibility
• Complete 75 hours of CE every 5 years
• Licensed or certified per state requirements
• Knowledge of regulations for assessments, care planning, and residents' rights
• Ability to teach others about nutrition and dietetics

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritional expertise to the health care team and educate patients/residents, staff, or consultants.
• Follow Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics standards and facility regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with departments to set up procedures and policies for dining service and nutrition.

The Role At a Glance

We are looking to add an experienced registered dietitian to our healthcare team in Pittsburgh. As a registered dietitian, you will have the opportunity to identify and assess the nutritional needs of assigned patients/residents, initiate interventions to achieve and/or maintain individuals nutritional status, and enhance quality of life consistent with patient’s/resident’s goals.

What You'll Be Doing

• Providing nutritional expertise to the health care team and educating patients/residents, staff, or consultants.
• Following the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ standards of practice and facility regulatory requirements.
• Interacting with other departments in setting up procedures and policies, and in problem solving as it relates to dining service and nutrition.
• Actively participating in the development, review, and revision of continuous quality improvement programs.

Must-haves

• Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or meets the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for eligibility.
• Completes 75 hours of continuing education hours every five years, in accordance with the CDR, utilizing the professional portfolio development process.
• Licensed or certified, per state requirements.
• Knowledge of regulation standards specific to comprehensive assessments, care planning, and residents’ rights.
• Ability to teach others, specifically pertaining to nutrition and dietetics.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field.
• Experience working in healthcare or long-term care.
