NutraCo in New Carrollton, MD is seeking a Clinical Dietitian to assess nutritional needs and develop individualized care plans for residents. You will work with an interdisciplinary team and provide nutrition counseling as needed, with emphasis on maintaining quality of life.

The role includes performing regular assessments, reviewing weights, and adjusting meal plans while ensuring compliance with CMS, state, and facility guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian or eligible for RD exam within 3 months of hire in states that allow RDE.
  • Computer literacy with MS Office, Google Suite, Internet and EMR charting.
  • One year clinical healthcare experience preferred with accredited internship required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English; strong communication skills in writing and verbal form.

Job description

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Clinical Dietitian assesses the nutritional needs and dietary restrictions of the residents to develop and implement a plan of care to meet nutritional needs and maintain overall quality of life. The dietitian works closely with the interdisciplinary team and provides nutrition counseling as needed.

  • o Complete initial, quarterly and annual assessments for all residents in compliance with federal and state
  • o Conduct monthly nutritional reviews on high-risk residents (significant weight loss/gain, pressure injuries,
  • o Complete significant change assessments as needed.
  • o Conduct chart reviews, interview residents, staff and responsible parties to obtain nutritional history.
  • o Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on assessments and use of clinical judgment.
  • o Conduct nutrition focused physical exams as needed.
  • o Provide nutrition education, counseling, and support to long-term care residents and their families.
  • o Review all monthly and weekly weights, complete assessments and make modifications to the nutrition plan of care as clinically indicated.
  • o Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team members and participate in clinical meetings, care conferences and quality assurance meetings to obtain and provide relevant patient information.
  • o Consult with physicians and other health care personnel (Nurse Practitioners, Dialysis Dietitians, etc.)
  • o Assist in coordination of nutrition care services with the Dietary Manager.
  • o Monitor food service operations to ensure conformance with nutritional, sanitation, safety, and quality standards, as well as all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • o Perform all duties necessary in accordance with NutraCo and facility policy and procedure.
  • o Understand and follow CMS guidelines and ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations.

Education and Experience:
  • o Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association (maintaining this status is a requirement of the position) or completion of approved baccalaureate degree with major studies in Food and Nutrition and eligible for RD exam within 3 months of hire in states that allow RDE.
  • o Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Internet, Electronic Medical Records Charting).
  • o One (1) year clinical experience in healthcare setting preferred with completion of an accredited internship required.
  • o Ability to read, write, and speak English; and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
