Job summary

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree with focus in Dietetics
  • Licenses and Certifications
    (RD) REGISTERED DIETITIAN credentialed as a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Upon Hire and
    (LDIE) LICENSED DIETITIAN licensed with the state of Texas as a Dietitian Upon Hire
    Candidates who are awaiting examination and credentialing are welcome to apply with the expectation the (RD) and (LDIE) are obtained within 6 months of hire date
Preferred
  • Experience
    1 year experience in a healthcare setting.
JOB DUTIES
  • Collects nutritional data from patient medical records and evaluation instruments.
  • Documents and provides medical nutrition therapy for prevention and treatment of diseases.
  • Prepares special diet menus for patients requiring special dietary treatment.
  • Assesses diets and nutritional status of patients throughout life cycle. Provides nutrition counseling and education as appropriate.
  • Performs and manages nutrient analysis through use of computer.
  • Interacts with various health care team members such as physicians, nurses, and hospital floor receptionists. Confers with health care team members as to dietary and/or nutritional needs of patients.
  • Evaluates outcomes of nutrition interventions.
  • Develops and/or revises nutrition education materials.
  • Duties performed may include one or more of the following core functions:
    a) Directly interacting with or caring for patients
    b) Directly interacting with or caring for human-subjects research participants;
    c) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting patient records (including patient financial records)
    d) Regularly maintaining, modifying, releasing or similarly affecting human-subjects research records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
