Job summary

Southwestern PA Area Agency on Aging, Inc. in Charleroi, PA is seeking a full-time Dietitian to lead and coordinate community nutrition services across congregate meal sites and home-delivered meals.

The role focuses on menu planning, nutrition analysis, regulatory compliance, and staff supervision. Qualified candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in dietetics, national certification, PA licensure, and at least three years of related experience; continuing education and clearances are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in dietetics and has successfully completed the national examination of the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• PA licensure required per 49 PA. Code, Chapter 21.
• Three years experience in food preparation, food service, safety, and sanitation.
• Clearances: FBI Fingerprint, PA Criminal History, and Child Abuse Clearance.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff, providers, and food vendors.

Responsibilities

• Plans creative menus and submits nutritional analysis in compliance with nutrition requirements.
• Maintains an area-wide inventory control system.
• Monitors and evaluates nutrition sites for regulatory compliance.
• Provides training to sub-contractors on standards of food preparation, production, sanitation.
• Coordinates quarterly nutrition education topics.
• Coordinates food service equipment repairs and replacements.
• Supervises the Nutrition Services Technician.
• Other duties as required.

Overall Function:

Provides overall food and nutrition services for all congregate meal sites and home delivered meals in the agency's service area.

Essential Functions:

• Plans creative menus and submits nutritional analysis in compliance with the nutrition requirements of the Department of Aging.
• Maintains an area-wide inventory control system.
• Monitors and evaluates all nutrition sites for compliance with all applicable governing regulations.
• Provides technical assistance and in-service training to sub-contractors relating to standards of food preparation, production, quality, and sanitation.
• Coordinates quarterly nutrition education topics.
• Coordinates food service equipment repairs and replacement.
• Supervises the Nutrition Services Technician.
• Other duties as required.
• Adheres to all policies, laws, regulations and codes of ethics and confidentiality as outlined by federal and state laws, and agency policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in dietetics and has successfully completed the national examination of the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Must maintain continuing education requirements as established by the CDR.
• The Dietitian shall be licensed in Pennsylvania pursuant to the State Board of Nursing regulations at 49 PA. Code, Chapter 21.
• A minimum of three years experience in food preparation, food service, safety, and sanitation.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with internal staff, providers, and food vendors.
• Must not be excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal health care programs.
• Must successfully obtain Criminal History Clearance from the PA State Police, Child Abuse Clearance from the PA Department of Human Services and FBI Fingerprint Clearances.
